Nobody anticipated that a member of the audience would give the most moving audition of the evening on this episode of Britain’s Got Talent 2025. A man named Max Fox stood up during a break and asked Simon Cowell if he could try out. He explained that he had been attempting to get in front of the judges for 19 years but had never made it through the standard procedure.
The judges were initially dubious. They made sure it wasn’t a set-up and that he had simply been fortunate to get a seat that day. Max acknowledged that he was anxious, but he stated that he was going to seize the opportunity with both hands because it might be his only. He emerged from the audience, grabbed the microphone, and selected “My Way,” the ultimate statement song, when the stage was cleared and the lights were turned on.
It was obvious from the first note that this wasn’t just any old karaoke experience. He had a deep, expressive voice that was totally engrossed in the classic. The way he performed the lines, you could hear every year of anticipation and desire. As he built to the grand finale chorus, the studio audience, who had just witnessed him appear out of nowhere, fell silent and began applauding. Instead of expecting a lighthearted gimmick, judges were actually moved.
The audience gave him a standing ovation when he was done. In addition to praising his voice, the panel commended him for having the guts to beg for a chance in front of the crowd after nearly twenty years of trying. Then, in an unexpected move, Amanda Holden smashed her Golden Buzzer, showering Max with gold confetti and transforming an impromptu “why not?” moment into the fantasy he had been waiting 19 years for.
Max Fox was simply another person in the crowd when he first came at BGT. He left as a Golden Buzzer act, live proof that sometimes you only have one chance and that everything can change if you have the courage to seize it.
