When Viggo Venn stepped onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage in 2023, nobody could have predicted that a man in a high-visibility vest would eventually win the entire competition.
The Norwegian comedian arrived with an enormous smile, a playful personality and an act that seemed almost too simple to work.
Then the music started.
Viggo began performing to Daft Punk’s “One More Time,” repeatedly putting on and taking off high-visibility vests while dancing around the stage.
That was essentially the act.
There were no impressive vocals, dangerous stunts or complicated magic tricks. Just a cheerful Norwegian man, a collection of fluorescent vests and an infectious sense of fun.
But somehow, it worked.
The audience quickly joined in, clapping, laughing and cheering as Viggo turned his deliberately silly routine into an unexpected celebration.
Simon Cowell wasn’t impressed at first, even pressing his red buzzer during the audition. But the other judges saw the humor in Viggo’s performance and voted to send him through.
And the surprises didn’t end there.
Viggo returned for the semifinals and eventually reached the grand final, where his high-energy comedy continued winning over viewers.
In one of the most unexpected results of the season, Viggo Venn was crowned the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2023, beating the other finalists through the public vote.
His victory proved something wonderful about entertainment: sometimes making people laugh and feel happy is just as powerful as any extraordinary technical skill.
He walked onto BGT with a few high-visibility vests and a ridiculous idea—and walked away as the champion.
