When 7-year-old Alexa Narvaez stepped onto the America’s Got Talent stage in 2012 alongside her father, Jorge, she had no idea she was about to create one of the sweetest moments of the season.
The father-daughter duo had already become internet sensations thanks to their homemade singing videos. But performing in front of celebrity judges and a huge audience was a completely different experience.
At first, Alexa admitted she was scared. Looking out at the crowd, she estimated there were about 609 people watching!
Then her father picked up his guitar, and everything changed.
Together, they performed “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Alexa’s sweet voice, infectious smile and adorable personality immediately won over the audience.
But the most memorable moment came after the song.
Howard Stern was so touched by their father-daughter connection that he admitted he wished his own father had played guitar with him.
Alexa’s innocent response was priceless. When Howard explained that his father had never played guitar with him, she sweetly told him she hoped he wouldn’t cry!
The judges couldn’t stop smiling.
Howard Stern, Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel all voted yes, sending Alexa and Jorge through to the Las Vegas round.
Although they didn’t advance beyond Vegas, their audition became a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most unforgettable performances aren’t about vocal perfection.
They’re about love, family and the joy of sharing music together.
