A baby girl, the fourteenth child in her family, was born in a small, packed home in Quebec. Because there was not enough money for a crib, her mother had to put her to sleep in a drawer.

When there was nothing else, she would make a simple pie with carrots, but she never told the kids the truth. Unaware that their mother was hoping they wouldn’t realize how little food was actually left, the children felt it was a pleasure.
The home was filled with music despite the difficulties. From the moment she could almost walk, she joined the family band that her parents and siblings had founded. She created her first song alongside her mother and brother when she was barely 12 years old.
