When Athena Manoukian stepped onto The X Factor UK stage, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a shy, quiet audition. The Greek-Armenian singer arrived dripping with confidence, telling the judges she already had a fanbase back home and was ready to win over the UK as well.
Her song choice said it all: “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé, delivered in a sultry, high-energy performance packed with attitude, riffs and sharp choreography. Backed by dancers and owning every inch of the stage, Athena treated the audition more like a full-blown pop show than a simple try-out.
Not everyone on the panel was instantly convinced. Ayda Williams admitted there were moments she found the performance “a bit cheesy,” and Louis Tomlinson actually said no. But Simon Cowell and Robbie Williams saw something more: star quality, presence and serious pop potential. With three “yes” votes, Athena made it through to the next round, proving that sometimes confidence, risk and full-on performance energy are exactly what it takes to stand out in a sea of auditions.
