Celine Casey from the UK is not an exception to the rule that parents will go to considerable measures to safeguard and assist their children. When her daughter Vienna Brookshaw was born in April 2021 with a congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN) birthmark on her forehead, Casey started to worry about how it would affect her emotionally as she grew older.
A cluster of pigment cells that may enlarge as the child gets older is the cause of CMN, an uncommon and benign disorder. Fearing that Vienna may face difficulties in the future, Casey consulted a doctor about getting the birthmark removed because she thought her daughter might grow up to be angry with her parents for not taking care of it.
Casey became more determined to have Vienna’s birthmark removed after observing that she was treated differently as a result of it. Casey started a fundraising effort after the NHS first rejected the proposal, calling it superficial.
Despite raising $52,000 in a single day, they still required an additional $27,000 because of the COVID-19 pandemic’s increased healthcare expenses. They were able to obtain the required amounts by using GoFundMe once more.
The birthmark was successfully removed from Vienna, who is now a healthy two-year-old, leaving only a little scar. Casey and her family are appreciative of Vienna’s promising future and are still working to safeguard her well-being.
