He’s Only 5… But His Drum Solo Had the AGT Judges Screaming on Their Feet

When 5-year-old Chrisyius Whitehead shuffled onto the America’s Got Talent 2024 stage, he looked more like he should be in kindergarten than under spotlights. Tiny headphones, little legs dangling off the drum stool — the judges smiled, the crowd “awww’d,” and everyone clearly expected something cute, not world-class.

Then he picked up the sticks.

The backing track kicked in and Chrisyius instantly locked into the groove like a seasoned pro. His timing was razor sharp, his fills were clean, and he attacked the kit with a confidence way beyond his years. What started as a simple beat quickly turned into a full-on drum showcase — rolls, crashes, rapid-fire kicks — all perfectly in time. Reaction videos later called him a “drumming savant,” and it’s hard to argue with that.

As his solo built, the judges went from smiling politely to wide-eyed disbelief. The audience started cheering mid-performance, some people literally standing up while he was still playing. By the final cymbal hit, the whole theatre was on its feet. Chrisyius grinned shyly as the judges praised his talent, rhythm, and fearless stage presence — this wasn’t just “good for a 5-year-old,” this was good, period.

He walked on looking like a kid who needed help climbing onto the stool.

He walked off as the tiniest rock star on the AGT stage — and a reminder that sometimes the biggest sound comes from the smallest drummer.
