The only thing the dying homeless man wanted was for people to take care of his dog!

Life was not going well for Clifford James Herbert. His illness caused him to lose both his job and his house.Doctors said his health was bleak and gave him only a few weeks to live.He no longer hoped for a miracle for himself, but he still dreamed of one for his dog, his one friend. And a miracle happened when a kind woman fulfilled his last desire to give the dog a home filled with love.

One freezing December afternoon, Jenine Lacett DeShaizer of Fresno, California, saw a forlorn homeless man on the street with a curled-up puppy. They looked so charming that Jenine decided to go up and talk to them lovingly. The man’s name was Clifford James Herbert, and his dog’s name was Baby.Clifford James Herbert worked on a farm and owned a small workshop.

But in 2006, after complications from heart surgery and a tracheotomy left him disabled, he lost both his job and his business. The doctors said he had only a few weeks to live after being diagnosed with cancer and soon found himself homeless. He stopped thinking about himself since he was so focused on his dog.His last wish was for her.Herbert asked Jenin DiShaizer to find his loyal dog a new home where she would be loved and live forever.

He saved the dog from a man who had beaten him in front of him, the dying man claimed.”To me, she is everything,” Herbert told DiShaizer.”She is my best friend.” She protects me. DiShaizer contacted the community crowdsourcing website GoFundMe to help Herbert and his dog find a place to live.People cooperated with their request; Herbert was given a paid hotel room, and Baby found new parents who wanted to adopt the dog.The baby now has a loving home and a little companion to play with.
